SBSA 2025: An Ecosystem Ready for Innovation

PhageLab took part in the Simpósio Brasil Sul de Avicultura (SBSA) 2025, Brazil’s leading technical event for the poultry industry. This gathering of industry leaders, producers, researchers, and companies gave us a clear message: the Brazilian poultry sector is ready and open to adopting innovative, sustainable solutions. Over two days of discussions, presentations, and networking in Chapecó, our team—Nicolás Ferreira, our Sales Director; Camilo Avendaño, our Head of Customer Experience; and Eliane Junqueira, our Poultry Specialist—had the opportunity to share updates on our bacteriophage-based technology while also gaining deeper insight into the industry’s current priorities and challenges.

“Compared to last year, we saw clear growth—more companies, more people, and a vibrant atmosphere that reflects how relevant this event has become for the industry. It shows how mobilized the sector is and how open it is to new solutions,” said Eliane Junqueira, Poultry Specialist at PhageLab

A dynamic industry

Brazil is a global leader in animal production, but what stood out to us most was its determination to keep evolving. A strong commitment to efficiency and productivity in the face of rising costs is driving producers to seek solutions that optimize operations, reduce losses, and protect animal health responsibly.

“In this context, precision technology, environmental sustainability, animal welfare, and a more intelligent use of antibiotics have become central priorities—fully aligned with our value proposition.” Said Nicolás Ferreira, Sales Director

Growth opportunities

We saw growing industry interest in biotechnological solutions like bacteriophages, not only for broilers but also for other segments. The potential to implement effective tools for bacterial control, without relying heavily on antibiotics, reflects a genuine openness to more efficient technologies that meet today’s production challenges.

At PhageLab, we see tremendous potential to continue expanding in Brazil. Our presence at SBSA not only validated the relevance of our technology, but also opened new opportunities for collaboration, helping us build stronger relationships and drive real impact in animal health.
