On Thursday, July 17, the book “Innovadores Científicos Chilenos. La conquista de un nuevo mundo” (“Chilean Scientific Innovators: The Conquest of a New World”) was officially launched. Written by Anil Sadarangani, PhD, MBA, a leading expert in innovation and technology transfer, the event was held at the Business School of Universidad de los Andes and brought together key figures from Chile’s scientific, entrepreneurial, and academic communities.
The book highlights groundbreaking companies that are redefining how science is developed and applied in Chile. Among them is PhageLab, which is featured in a dedicated chapter exploring the company’s journey, impact, and global reach.
“PhageLab represents world-class science, a concrete solution to a global problem—antimicrobial resistance—and a team that has successfully navigated the challenges of scientific entrepreneurship with clear vision and global ambition,” said Sadarangani.

Hans Pieringer (CEO), Pablo Cifuentes (CTO), and Carolina Aros (Head of Marketing & Communications) attended the launch on behalf of PhageLab, joining other featured innovators and key stakeholders from Chile’s innovation ecosystem.
Beyond its scientific contribution, the book recognizes PhageLab’s role in shaping critical conversations around biotech in Chile—topics like regulation, intellectual property, early-stage investment, and industrial scale-up.
“They’ve shown that high-level tech transfer can happen without leaving the country. PhageLab has paved the way and proved it’s possible to drive development from within, leveraging local capabilities,” Sadarangani added.
We’re honored to be part of this publication and grateful to Anil Sadarangani for spotlighting the value of scientific innovation made in Chile.
